Fosite's Beyond the Mix (BTM): EP002 - ft. Doc Awes & Gautam David

About the Event
THIS IS NOT A PERFORMANCE.
It is a creative dialogue (with a little bit of a performance).
As a design studio, Fosite operates on the conviction that the most profound insights reside within the process, not merely the finalised artefact. We established Beyond The Mix to dismantle the opacity surrounding creative labor in India. Our objective is to forge a deliberate environment where the nation's most formidable minds can transmit the intimate mechanics of their craft. This is not a passive showcase; it is an active contribution to the intellectual infrastructure of the Indian creative ecosystem; a dedicated space for dialogue, structural analysis, and the continuous elevation of artistic methodology.
For the second iteration of our series, we welcome Amrith (Doc Awes) and Gautam David; two fundamental architects of the contemporary Indian soundscape. They are widely recognised as the structural forces behind the live hip-hop/neo-soul collective, T.ill APES, as well as the discrete producers shaping some of the region's most globally resonant hip-hop compositions. Yet, our focus for this evening shifts to the space between the notes: the period of structural realignment.
At its core, this session is a rigorous examination of musical freelancing in India. What necessitates the pause of a collective? How does an artist pivot, define their market value, and sustain autonomy when the traditional band framework changes?
We will anchor this inquiry through live session breakdowns and real-time music engineering; offering an unvarnished look at the architectural realities of an independent creative practice that are rarely discussed outside closed doors.
WHO IS THIS CURATED FOR?
This environment is designed for the intellectually curious.
For active practitioners, producers, and independent artists, this serves as an essential seminar on the landscape of freelancing. It is a rare opportunity to dialogue with seasoned industry architects and study the methodology of building a sustainable corpus and defining one's value.
For the creative community, it is a convergence of the city’s most discerning minds. Whether your intent is to observe, connect, or simply absorb the dialogue, you will find yourself in exemplary company.
THE FACILITATOR: MICAH BEDFORD
Micah Bedford operates not merely as a moderator, but as an active interlocutor and peer. As an established R&B artist himself, he navigates the dialogue from a position of shared lived experience. He eschews scripted inquiry in favor of rigorous structural analysis, steering the conversation toward the granular, technical realities that only a fellow practitioner possesses the vocabulary to extract.
